Kovil Konda Thamizhagam
The temple as the force that binds a community together and lifts it up.
Temples were never only places of worship. They were religious, cultural and socio-economic institutions at the centre of people's lives.
In times of flood, famine and epidemic, temples gave shelter and support. They fed the poor, and until independence they often settled disputes for rural communities.
Over centuries of invasion and neglect, many temples lost this role. Kovil Konda Thamizhagam works to bring it back, so that the temple is again part of a community's daily work and prosperity.
